Overview
The TT-OATC evaluates the ozone cracking resistance of vulcanized and thermoplastic rubber, cable insulation and sheaths. Specimens are exposed in a closed, light-free chamber with constant ozone concentration and constant temperature, then inspected for surface cracks or other property changes after the specified exposure time.
Three Test Patterns
Static test: the specimen is stretched by 20% or a specified ratio, then exposed at the prescribed ozone concentration and inspected with a magnifier when the time is reached. Continuous dynamic test: the specimen is cyclically stretched, for example between zero and 10% at 0.5 Hz for 72 hours, and checked for cracks. Intermittent dynamic test: the specimen is stretched cyclically to maximum elongation, held there in the same ozone environment, and dynamic and static phases can be alternated as required.
Key Features
The chamber is built of ozone-resistant stainless steel with an observation window and internal lighting. Ozone is produced by a silent discharge tube generator, and concentration is measured by an ozone sensor with adjustable setpoint on the controller. Temperature, humidity, and ozone level are monitored in real time, the dynamic reciprocating tensile fixture offers adjustable speed, and an emergency fault alarm plus mobile casters make the chamber safe and easy to place in the lab.
