IEC 62133 Battery Extrusion Puncture Tester
TT-DC004 battery extrusion and puncture tester for IEC 62133, UN 38.3 and UL 1642 battery abuse testing: servo motor with screw drive, 1–20 kN extrusion and needle penetration force, 0.1–40 mm/s adjustable speed, SUS304 inner box with explosion-proof design, and PLC touch screen control with voltage and temperature acquisition ports.
Overview
The TT-DC004 battery extrusion and puncture tester performs the crush and nail penetration abuse tests required by IEC 62133, UN 38.3 and UL 1642 for lithium cells and packs. A servo motor with screw drive presses the flat extrusion head or the steel needle into the sample at a set speed and force, and the test is widely used in quality inspection and R&D of battery manufacturers. The machine complies with IEC 62133, UN 38.3 and UL 1642:2012.
Key Features
The extrusion and needle forces are adjustable from 1 kN to 20 kN (50 kN to 800 kN machines are selectable), with 0.1 N pressure display accuracy, 1/10000 sensor resolution and switchable kg, N and lb units. The needle speed is adjustable from 0.1 to 40 mm/s, the penetration speed is 10 to 40 mm/s with the needle staying in the battery, and the holding time can be set from 0 to 99 h.
The 1.5 mm SUS 304 inner box with Teflon coating sits inside a painted cold-rolled steel outer box. A 250 × 250 mm observation window with two layers of tempered glass and stainless steel mesh, explosion-proof chains, an explosion-proof lock and a 200 × 200 mm pressure relief port protect the operator, while a 50 mm test hole and reserved voltage and temperature acquisition ports support in-test monitoring.

Applications
Battery abuse testing is usually combined with environmental conditioning, and the TT-DC004 is frequently ordered together with our THV temperature humidity vibration test chamber and the integrated environmental chamber with high and low temperature to cover the full IEC 62133 test plan.
Typical samples include cylindrical, prismatic and pouch lithium-ion cells and small battery packs up to 200 × 200 × 200 mm for quality inspection and R&D.
